Who we are 02 / 10

A sourcing office that thinks like a brand

Bangladesh grows and weaves more jute than almost anywhere on earth, and still exports most of it as somebody else's unbranded product. Jutery exists to close that gap: design, specification and accountability from Dhaka, with the finishing quality an export buyer actually expects.

Why jute 03 / 10

The material regulation is pushing you toward

Single-use plastic restrictions across the EU, the UK and the Gulf have turned reusable natural-fibre bags from a nice-to-have into a procurement requirement.

Biodegradable by nature

Untreated jute returns to soil within months — no microplastics, no landfill legacy.

Strong and low-cost

Higher tensile strength than cotton at a fraction of the fibre cost per bag.

A low-input crop

Jute grows in four to six months on rain-fed land with minimal pesticide demand.

Premium hand-feel

A natural texture that reads as considered and expensive on a retail shelf.

Custom manufacturing 05 / 10

Six dimensions of specification

Almost nothing about a jute bag is fixed. These are the levers we pull to hit your look, your durability requirement and your landed cost.

Fabric & weight

7 oz to 14 oz jute hessian, jute-cotton blends, laminated (PP or PE) and unlaminated, natural or piece-dyed in your colour.

Construction

Flat, gusseted, boxed, folding, rigid-base, zip-top, drawstring, with internal pockets, dividers and key leashes.

Handles & straps

Cotton webbing, jute cord, rope, cane and bamboo, leather-look PU, self-fabric straps, adjustable and detachable options.

Branding

Screen, block, flexo, heat transfer, sublimation on the lining, embroidery, plus woven, printed and metal labels.

Finishing

Piping, rivets, magnetic snaps, zips, base boards, printed inner linings and edge binding in contrast cotton.

Packing & marking

Individual polybag or paper sleeve, retail hang tags, EAN barcodes, master-carton marking and pallet configuration.

Indicative only. Actual movement depends on fabric weight, print method, handle type and the jute price at the time of quotation. Above ten thousand pieces the lead time lengthens again because the order is split across units.

Branding & packaging 06 / 10

How your mark goes on, and how it travels

Choose the branding method by quantity and artwork, then decide how each bag is packed. Together these two choices set most of the unit-cost difference between a plain bag and a retail-ready one.

Branding methods

Method Min. quantity Colours Best for
Screen print300up to 4Best value overall. Crisp, opaque coverage on flat panels; our default recommendation.
Block print5001–2Hand-crafted look for artisanal ranges. Slight variation between pieces is inherent, not a defect.
Flexo print2,000up to 6Roll-to-roll printing before cutting. The lowest unit cost once you are past two thousand pieces.
Heat transfer100Full colourPhotographic detail and gradients across small areas. Higher unit cost, no screen charges.
Embroidery100up to 9 threadsThe premium finish. Ideal for logos under 12 cm; priced by stitch count, not by area.
Woven label300Sewn to the front panel or inside the seam. The cheapest way to carry a brand mark permanently.

Packaging & freight

  • Paper belly-band instead of an individual polybag — adds a little labour, removes the polymer entirely.
  • Jute or cotton sleeve for premium retail presentation, made from the same fabric family as the bag.
  • Kraft-paper tape and paper strapping in place of PP strapping on master cartons.
  • Nested and compressed packing plans that reduce carton count, which cuts both your freight cost and the shipped volume.

Quality & compliance 07 / 10

Documentation your compliance team will accept

We work to the paperwork standard European and North American importers require — and we state plainly what we can and cannot certify.

Product testing

Third-party lab reports from SGS, Intertek or Bureau Veritas on request — tensile strength, colour fastness, azo dyes, heavy metals.

Chemical compliance

REACH/SVHC declarations, California Prop 65 statements, and phthalate-free lamination options.

Social audit

We prioritise SEDEX/SMETA or BSCI audited units and share the audit reference before you place the order.

Inspection reports

Every shipment travels with a photographic QC report and a measurement sheet against the approved sample.

Documentation provided

  • Proforma invoice and sales contract before the advance
  • Commercial invoice and packing list with carton-level detail
  • Bill of lading or air waybill
  • Certificate of origin from the issuing chamber
  • Fumigation and phytosanitary certificates where the destination requires them
  • Test reports, REACH declaration and social audit reference on request
A straight answer Certificates belong to the manufacturing unit, not to us. We name the unit, share its valid certificates, and welcome your own or a third party's inspection at any stage of production.

Sustainability 08 / 10

What we will say, and what we will not

Under the EU's tightening rules on environmental claims, a vague green statement on your packaging is now your legal exposure, not ours. So we keep the first list defensible and refuse the second.

What we stand behind
  • Untreated jute hessian is biodegradable, and we can supply a construction with no plastic component at all.
  • Jute is an annual, rain-fed crop harvested in four to six months, grown with low pesticide input relative to cotton.
  • A jute shopper used weekly lasts for years, so it displaces a large number of single-use bags over its life.
  • Retting and fibre extraction are mechanical and microbial, not chemical.
  • Any specific figure we give you is traceable to a named test report or to your own bill of materials.
What we decline to claim
  • "Carbon neutral" or "climate positive" — we hold no verified lifecycle assessment for our products, so the words would be decoration.
  • "100% compostable" on any laminated, PU-trimmed or polyester-stitched bag. The laminate does not compost, and saying so would be false.
  • A specific water or CO₂ saving per bag against cotton or polypropylene, unless you commission the study and we can cite it.
  • "Organic jute" — no certified organic jute supply chain is available to us at commercial volume today.
  • Any claim of our own certification. Certificates belong to the mills and workshops that hold them, and we name those holders instead.

Indicative loads are for a flat-packed classic tote in export cartons. Actual counts depend on bag size, gusset, handle and carton specification — the exact figure is confirmed in your stuffing plan.

Freight notes

  • Sea freight from Chittagong is our standard routing; Mongla is available when it suits your carrier.
  • Air freight is used for samples and urgent partial quantities, with the balance following by sea.
  • Transit times are confirmed at booking — they vary by carrier, routing and season, and we do not guess them.
  • Cargo insurance is arranged by us under CIF and DDP; under EXW and FOB it is yours from handover.

Contact

Let us cost your first order.

One style, one quantity and one destination port is enough to start. Send it in any of five languages and you will have an itemised answer within two working days.

  • A photograph or sketch — even a competitor's bag. One image removes ten emails.
  • Quantity per style and per colour, not just a total.
  • The destination port, so freight and duty can be estimated.
